A Holistic Approach to Psychotherapy

INDIVIDUAL & FAMILY THERAPY

Utilizing a variety of psychotherapeutic interventions that treat the whole person, I pay attention to the 1) feelings you are having, 2) patterns of thinking, 3) unresolved conflict and trauma, 4) medical issues and the mind-body feedback loop, 5) the therapeutic relationship and the quality of current relationships, and 6) how you spend your time each day. Based on this information, I use customized interventions to help you achieve your therapy goals. The interventions include emotional processing, problem solving, bolstering realistic and positive thinking, forming healthy habits, addressing unresolved conflict and trauma, developing supportive and enjoyable relationships, and family therapy when needed.

Developing a system of support outside of therapy: While I am happy for you to stay in therapy as long as you need, one of my goals is to help you develop a support network outside of therapy where you can feel comfortable being vulnerable and getting the specific kind of support that you need. This often requires a strategic plan that includes learning how to coach family members and friends to be more supportive, as well as developing new support networks.

A network of holistic care: I work with and refer regularly to a variety of other medical and health professionals to support the needs of the whole person. This includes referrals to general medicine, psychiatrists, functional/holistic medical doctors, physical therapists, nutritionists and massage therapists.
